Summer Staff Applications open December 5th, 2022!
Camp Mak-A-Dream attracts a certain kind of individual — one who is passionate, kind and sees the big sky as the limit. Often someone who has been touched by cancer in their own personal life is interested in joining our community. However, we welcome anyone with or without previous experience and knowledge of cancer and the effects of treatment. Anyone wishing to serve in a summer staff role on site during a session must be at least 18 years of age.
Summer Staff Positions
We select our summer staff after an extensive application and interview process. Our summer staff spend several days training on campus prior to the first session to come together as a team so that we can achieve our ultimate goal: To give campers a positive, life-changing Montana experience. Staff receive room, board, training and compensation.
Cabin leaders: supervise and guide campers throughout the week. We hire two male and two female cabin leaders for the summer. Cabin leaders live and sleep in the cabins and assist in the training and supervision of weekly volunteer staff. Their primary responsibility is to foster a safe and supportive environment for the campers and volunteers in their cabin.
Program specialists: lead specific program activity areas and collaborate as a team to create and facilitate campus wide events. Their primary responsibility is to create activities that are safe, fun and inclusive for all members of the community. We hire ten program specialists who each oversee a specific part of camp in additional to working with the team in overall programming. Individual specialist areas include: Arts & crafts, Waterfront, Photography, Horses, Activities, and Ropes Course.
Office assistant: responsible for general office duties during the day and joins program specialists in the evening to assist with larger group activities.
